VISIONARY PROFILE

Dr Tess Huynh

Visionary – Sight For All Cornea Team

Dr Tess Tien Huynh is regarded by her peers as one of the most experienced anterior segment eye surgeons in Australia, who is dedicated to changing lives through her passion for ophthalmology. She is committed to preventing blindness in developing countries and has been involved in charity work for the last 25 years.

Coming to Australia as a boat refugee in the late 70’s, she has learned to overcome and has developed the deepest empathy for those who are suffering pain or loss. Tess began her missions in the Asia Pacific in 1999 with Christian Blind Mission International in The Philippines.

She then joined various charities including The Royal Children’s Hospital International Melbourne, Vietnam Vision Project, Cambodia Vision, Fiji Eye Project, Sight For All and Australian Health and Humanitarian Aid. Her clinics cover the Southwest Sydney region with practices in Campsie, Hurstville, Liverpool and Campbelltown, serving the under serviced and underprivileged communities.

She was a founding Director of South West Vision Institute, iVision Clinic Inner West and Liverpool Eye Surgery (now owned by Cura Day Surgery). She was also on the RANZCO Board of Examiners for over 9 years, investing into our future ophthalmologists. She has lectured on national and international podiums and served on expert advisory panels. She has recently performed and published Australia’s first SMILE procedure on a patient with congenital nystagmus.

She has always led the way in refractive surgery as well as keratoconus treatment and was one of the first to perform ICL, presbyopia correction, corneal collagen cross linking and intracorneal ring segments in 2006, and now also performing the latest in keratoconus treatment with CAIRS (corneal segment implants).

Tess is humbled by the privilege of working in ophthalmology, earning the trust of her peers, staff and patients, and personally restoring vision for over 10,000 individuals as well as inspiring many more.
