Dr Alexander Poon is a corneal, external eye diseases and cataract specialist from Melbourne.

His Ophthalmology training was undertaken at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital and Advanced training took place at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney and Moorfield’s Eye Hospital, London.

He has special interest in corneal transplantation and has numerous publications this field.

Currently Dr Poon consults at the RVEEH and in private practice. He enjoys teaching students, optometrists, general practitioners and trainees. He has actively participated in Trachoma screening in Northern Queensland, been an invited speaker at Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital, Hangzhou China and taught corneal skills to Vietnamese ophthalmologists through the Sight for All program. He thoroughly enjoys his job as an Ophthalmologist!
