The Parent/Caregiver Education Campaign included the development of a website and brochures to share information about the various stages of visual development, important signs of eye or vision problems and who to contact for assistance. The website ‘Open Your Eyes’ can be accessed here for further information
The Primary Health Practitioner Education Campaign involved the presentation of a free ‘Early Childhood Eye Health in SA’ webinar to primary health practitioners in South Australia. Panel members included a mother of a child with retinoblastoma, a child and family health nurse, an optometrist, two paediatric ophthalmologists and an orthoptist. The webinar provided a platform to discuss referral pathways, factors implicated in delayed diagnoses, and clinical tips for performing infant ocular examinations.
