CORNEAL

Corneal specialists diagnose and treat diseases of the cornea, which is the clear ‘windscreen’ at the front of the eye. These conditions include dry eye disease, corneal trauma, keratoconus, Surfer’s Eye (pterygium) and Fuch’s dystrophy. Corneal transplants are also performed by Corneal specialists.

THREE FELLOWS IN VIETNAM

Drs Sam, Thuy and Phuong have recently been trained as corneal specialists through Sight For All’s Vietnam Corneal Fellowship in 2015. The final assessment of this project was undertaken by Dr Mark Chehade in July 2016.

EXTENDING TRAINING TO MYANMAR

Sight For All is currently working with Professor Gerard Sutton in establishing an eye bank in Mandalay, Myanmar at the Mandalay Eye Ear Nose and Throat Hospital (MEENTH).

Dr Aye Moe Htet (pictured on the right) from MEENTH has completed her twelve month corneal fellowship at the Royal Adelaide Hospital.
