There is no place quite like the country of Bhutan, the last pristine Himalayan Kingdom which boasts amazing scenery and traditional Buddhist culture. You will see breathtaking views of mountain peaks and intricate architecture of monasteries perched on the edge of the mountains.
Some interesting facts about Bhutan:
- Bhutan is the first country in the world with specific constitutional obligations on its people to protect the environment. Among its requirements: At least 60 percent of the nation must remain under forest cover at all times.
- Bhutan embraces the idea of Gross National Happiness and uses this as a measurement system.
- Until the 1960’s Bhutan had no roads, automobiles, telephone, postal system or electricity. Bhutanese had no access to TV or Internet until limited access was permitted in 1999.
Katie Sarah, one of Australia’s leading mountaineers and adventurers, and the first South Australian woman to climb Mount Everest, will lead this unique trek.
