Sight For All’s team of Australian and NZ paediatric ophthalmologists, optometrists and orthoptists will be training a paediatric ophthalmologist in Bangladesh over a three-year period in 2014-16. Following completion of his training, Dr Jayfari will become the first consultant paediatric ophthalmologist at the Ophthalmological Society of Bangladesh’s new hospital in the capital city Dhaka. A big thank you to Santos who are funding this initiative.
Throughout 2014-15, Sight For All, in conjunction with their colleagues from the Ophthalmological Society of Bangladesh, will be fitting out and equipping the Paediatric Ophthalmology Unit at their new hospital in Dhaka. Dr Jayfari will commence working in this Unit following his training. The equipment will allow Dr Jayfari to treat children who visit the hospital with the best possible ‘tools’ and visual outcomes. A big thank you to Santos who are funding this initiative. Thank you also to the Australian Government’s Direct Aid program in Dhaka that has funded an operating microscope for this unit.
