Retinal

Sight For All's Lao Retinal Fellowship for Dr Khamkhoune and three medical fellows from provincial eye centres commenced in early 2015 and will continue into 2017.

In support of the retinal fellowship in Lao, Sight For All's major event The Very Slow Long Lunch held in Adelaide in 2015 enabled the purchase of two argon lasers for the regional eye centres in Savannakhet and Champasak in southern Lao. The availability of these lasers will enable early treatment for the increasing number of diabetic patients appearing in these local communities.

Since Sight For All began in 2009, we have been involved with training 10 retinal specialists in Australia. Professor San Myint and Professor San Hlaing Min are two ophthalmologists from the Yangon Eye Hospital, trained in Adelaide. These two retinal specialists are now training three of their own vitreo-retinal fellows for other regions of Myanmar.
